I read - with some enthusiasm - your article on ... "The Immortal Game."

First of all, no one can mention this game anymore without having said that they have read the book,
"The Immortal Game," (A History of Chess); by David Shenk. In my own humble opinion, this is the finest book on the game of chess since Murray wrote
"A History of Chess," around 100 years ago. (I am briefly mentioned in this book.) You can read my review of this book here.

I analyzed this game extensively for a number of different magazines ... I published one version of this analysis on my main GC website on this page in 2002.

One of my earliest analysis of this game was posted on the Internet close to 11 years ago, and it can be found here.

You may be surprised to know that there is still some controversy about the exact move order of this game ... I am still not 100 per cent certain of which move order is correct! In some cases, every book or database provides a move order that conflicts with other sources. Perhaps Mr. Shenk would like to have the last word on this subject!
Thanks, AJ! Sadly, I haven't yet read David Shenk's book but have heard many good things about it. Ray Keene's DVD package, DUELS OF THE MIND (see here) which features The Immortal Game, is available from the London Chess Centre and the British Chess Magazine Shop The BCM shop writes - "We have a good selection of material on DVD, including Ray Keene's Duels of the Mind - the complete 12-programme TV series in which the English chess grandmaster presents 12 of the most spectacular chess games of all time...".-Ed
